All I Want for Christmas . . .

is a pair of red leather tufted ottomans like this one:

Stacks and Stacks

As an interior decorator, I am always on the look-out for frugal finds in furniture and decor accessories.  At $110 each, these little ottoman cubes are a great way to add function and style to a family living room.   Not just a place to rest your feet anymore, ottomans like these are perfect for extra seating when the whole family comes over to exchange gifts!    They remind me of these lovelies from Ballard Design:

Ballard Designs

These from Ballard are $250 each, so the ones from Stacks and Stacks look even better don’t they?  When it comes to decor, do you have a frugal favorite to share with us?

Thrift stores and spray paint are my go-to frugal tip! I’ll spray paint anything that’s standing still…and some things that aren’t. Ha!

I love these, Kristie! It might be the first purchase I’ll make for my office! : ) I think both grown-ups and kids will enjoy the fun punch of red and padding.

    Thank you! Merry Christmas!

Honestly, those red leather ottomans would never work in my house – but I can think of so many other people’s houses that they would! I’m sure your present will be more fitting 🙂

just be careful about their ‘leather’ claim these days…when they only say ‘leather’, they normally means bi-cast leather, which is actually vinyl. Only when they say genuine leather, they mean real leather. Many big stores, including BD, grandin road, even Pottery barn are playing tricks like these. and yes, they are different, when you touch them, as well as the durability. therefore when the price is too good, just double check by calling them and ask if they are bi-cast leather or real leather.

      Joy,
Thank you for sharing that info – you are absolutely right. I’m sure these are not “real” leather, or they wouldn’t be so inexpensive. Bargain shopping can come at a price – that price being a compromise of quality.

Just an FYI – Bi-cast leather IS actually leather – it’s just the second layer of the hide. Hides are thick – the top is cut off making it “Top Grain” and the thickness that it is cut can change the quality and feel. The second layer was fairly useless until the Germans developed a process to coat the second cut. It is basically plasticized, but it is actually leather under all that coating. You learn something new every day!

My kids used to love playing with these when they were little. We didn’t have the same ones but similar enough. Merry Christmas!

Hi 🙂 I just found your blog via The Decorologist.
Loving the look of your blog. new to blogging so its a novelty for me to walk into someones world and have a look around.
Your bathroom is fairly tiny but loads are like that over here in the uk. space is so much at a premium over here.
I assume you don’t have a spare room to make into a bathroom and rename that space as storage?!
If not all I can suggest is 1) to move 2) to paint in very light colours or possibly use mirrored surfaces lol

I have a wooden luggage rack with a large wooden tray on it that my brother made for me. This is perfect for setting extras on when dining, like the salad bowl… And it doubles as another end table when there are lots of guests, etc.

Those are pretty ottomans! I could use them in the den for a pop of color. They would be perfect if they were storage ottomans too. With two tween girls, I’m always on the lookout for storage solutions for their stuff.
I love shopping at Finders Keepers and other thrift stores too.
    Merry Christmas!
