The Green I Would Have Chosen Instead – Benjamin Moore’s 2015 Color of the Year

Benjamin Moore announced their 2015 Color of the Year, Guilford Green HC-116.  It’s a perfectly nice color, and it certainly has it’s place – but not as Color of the Year.  Let me tell you why not.

Consider Black Windows and Doors To Punctuate Your Color Palette

I’m giving you a peek inside the new farmhouse I showed you earlier this week.  It’s a new build and about to go on the market, so it’s not furnished at this point. I did a complete interior and exterior paint color and design consultation on this home a couple of months ago, and I got to take a look at the progress just last week.

The above photo is a “before” of the breakfast room.  The builder was considering wood beams on the ceiling.  I recommended a light gray wall, warm white trim, and almost black on the windows and interior doors.

A Better Paint Color Behind a Dark Brown Sofa – Try Elephant Gray

So you have a big puffy brown sofa in your family room and don’t plan to replace it any time soon.  And you have an accompanying wall color like this olive green. The color scheme here is brown + olive + gold or what I like to refer to as “blah.”

The New Neutral for Sofas

Are you over the big tan or brown blob of a sofa that’s been lurking  living in your living or family room for the last ten years?  I’m sick to death of them, let me tell you.  Most people may tell you that GRAY is the new neutral for sofas, but I beg to differ.
