A Fresh Take on Yellow and Blue Decorating

Yellow and blue are a classic color combination.  In the 1990’s, the combo was a butter yellow and a darker blue (like that in Wedgwood china).  Those shades together are still lovely, but how about an updated version?  A fresh take on yellow and blue looks more like this:  a bold citrus yellow paired with a watery or turquoise blue.

Aren’t these rooms like a breath of fresh air?  If you want your rooms to look and feel like a breath of fresh air, schedule a room styling with The Decorologist.  Check out  a yellow and blue room makeover that I recently completed for a lovely client.

I am so glad that I stumbled across this post! I have been going back and forth for months now on the idea of painting my daughter’s room turquoise and finally bit the bullet and ordered wallpaper. Currently, the room has the same terracotta colored walls from when it was my office- this is going to be a huge change! There are bright yellow silk curtains, a band of bright yellow around the top of the walls, and the bedding is a pattern on a yellow background. I was starting to panic that it might not ‘go’ so well as I had imagined. These pictures prove me wrong. I can’t wait to get that paper up on the walls.
