Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect to accomplish during an initial two-hour consultation with Kristie?

Initial design and paint color consultations are a 2-hr minimum, whether local or online. Typically, 2 hours will cover paint color suggestions, design, and furniture arrangement, etc. for 1-2 rooms.  If you need a color palette for your entire home, this could take 3 to 4 hours. But this is a process, and is based on your feedback, particular tastes, the size and the specific fixed elements in your home.  Every home and the needs of each client is different.

What is your cancellation policy?

As long as you cancel your appointment (for any reason) at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled consultation, you will receive a full refund.  Because local clients pay at the time of the scheduled appointment, they will be charged for one hour when canceling without 48 hours notice. This policy is to encourage clients to allow us time to fill the appointment with another client.

Do you accept guest blog posts?

While I truly appreciate the desire to contribute to my website, I currently write all of my own content and do not accept any unsolicited guest posts at this time.

Do you write sponsored posts?

I only write a limited number of sponsored posts and only if the products have been reviewed by me and are extremely relevant to my readers. You may contact my assistant Daria at daria@thedecorologist.com if you are interested in sponsored posts and she can provide you with my fees and requirements. Please provide her with detailed information about your product and how it is relevant to my readers.

What if I would like to know the name of a particular color used in one of your posts?

Due to frequent requests for specific paint colors by blog readers, I now offer my readers access to paint colors that were specified for my paying clients for a small fee of $50 per color. For that price, you can purchase the paint color name, brand, and finish you see featured in a given blog post, along with the complimenting trim color. For those posts dealing with multiple colors, the charge will be $75 for the shown in a given photo. If you are interested in this service, contact my assistant Daria at daria@thedecorologist.com.

I receive your emails but need to change my email address?

You should be able to change your email address through the “update subscription preferences” link at the bottom of the emails.

Do you take online clients that live outside the United States?

Due to the time differences and difficulty in suggesting retailers in the area, at this time, I do not do international consultations.

Why do I need a fan deck for my ONLINE appointment?

You can purchase Benjamin Moore fan decks (preferably the Classic Colors and Collections fan decks) on Amazon at http://amzn.to/1byri8g or pick one up at your local Benjamin Moore dealer. For Sherwin Williams, you can purchase one at your local Sherwin Williams store.

When do I need to submit my pictures for my online consultation?

I ask that you email your pictures to my assistant daria@thedecorologist.com at least one day prior to the appointment. Please note that I DO NOT see the pictures before the time of the appointment, just as I do not see a local clients house before I enter it. I highly recommended that you organize and label the pictures so that we can make the most efficient use of our time.

How do I find my videos or courses I’ve purchased ?

Click on “My Account” in the menu at the top of this page or here.  In this area you can see all of your previous orders and find access to view your videos.
