My friend Christiana opened her home to let me photograph the lovely ways she warms up her space for fall.  She loves to make special seasonal changes that reflect her creativity and her love of home and family.

Christiana uses inexpensive burlap to add texture to the drapery panels she creates.  She lined these completely with burlap so that the panels are reversible.  The completely burlap side will be displayed with her Christmas decor this year.

Christiana even uses burlap to create textural mats for her art.

Christiana helped her children create this “Thanksgiving Tree.”  The leaves are labeled with all the things for which they are most thankful.  What a wonderful tradition to start with your own children!  Christiana doesn’t hesitate to display her children’s precious art (like paper and clay turkeys) right along with her beautiful antique mirror and sconces.

I like how she pulls out her darker art especially for the season:  lots of browns and dark creams.  These beautiful seasonal pillows are her custom creations.

Christiana brings in simple autumn florals, mostly dried.  The bird’s nest under the cloche brings even more nature inside.

Her daughter often finds and brings in gifts of nature from their backyard.  Christiana gathers these treasures and artfully displays them in these glass containers on her bookshelf.

I love the tablescape on the dining room table:  wheat plucked from the field behind her home “planted” in beans from the grocery.   The dark burlap runner on the white-painted dining table adds great texture and contrast.

This vintage dresser was a proud yard sale find.  Christiana tops it with a burlap-covered canvas of her child’s autumn artwork.
