| Happy Monday to my precious readers! I have to share a lovely and thoughtful gift I recently received from my friend, Debbie. Debbie knows how enamored I’ve been with everything English and specifically with the printed catchphrase made famous by the Brits during World War II: “Keep Calm and Carry On.” You probably know about it, too, as I’ve blogged about it here and here. | ![]() |
| My faithful readers know that I searched for a “Keep Calm and Carry On” print while in London earlier this year. And I could only find it emblazoned on a coffee mug. So I searched online for something and blogged about it here. Yesterday, I went shopping with a client and visited Bed, Bath, & Beyond. And look what I found! These canvases are about 2 feet x 3 feet and are stretched on a wooden frame. They come in bright pink, turquoise blue, and black for $19.99. I’m opting for the turquoise blue! | ![]() |

I also found a couple of other pieces of art that I really liked. This close-up of a succulent is really cool and contemporary, with lots of variations of green and hints of blue. It is about 3 1/2 feet square. |
| Many of you know I recently spent over a week in London, England. The one souvenir I really wanted to bring back with me was a “Keep Calm and Carry On” sign or print. During World War II, the British government commissioned this poster to be posted as an encouragement for the Brits to keep a stiff upper lip during the harsh wartime period. I’ve seen this a lot in decorating magazines lately – probably a retro revival due to the current economic recession. Of course, I thought it would be easy to find there – but NO! I only found a single coffee cup bearing this saying, and I really wanted something to hang on the wall. | ![]() |
