Boudoir Goth

Home Depot’s most popular line of paint, Behr, has introduced several new palettes in their 2011 Color Trend Forecast.  One that caught my attention is called “Boudoir Goth.”  I never would have guessed the Twilight Saga and vampire craze would have spawned it’s own paint palette, but it appears to have!  And I’m definitely picking up on hints of Steampunk.  Here’s the brooding description by Behr:

Heather’s Color Forecast

Heather Spriggs Thompson has a lovely blog that I follow called Gathering Spriggs.  Last week, she added her two cents to the Sherwin-Williams ColorMix 2011 post I wrote.

Purples, Lavenders, and Blues

Call me narrow-minded, but I wasn’t sure what to think when I first started seeing the pairing of purple with blue.  I used to think you had to stick to one shade in a range of colors:  red, pink, or orange – but never two or three of those together!  Well, that’s all changed.  Now, the most sophisticated rooms feature all shades of one color or the pairing of two colors that are side-by-side on the color wheel.  And the more I see rooms in purples and blues together, the more I like it!

What’s great is that you can totally update your blue and white transferware collection by pairing it with purple like they did in this dining room.  You could do a similar look by simply painting your walls lavender or purple, then accenting with a blue and white plate collection.

In the Pink

Pink isn’t just for little girls anymore.  Really.  It looks totally grown-up when combined with neutrals, modern designs, and clean lines.

Pair pink with brown, gray, or black to ground it.  Pair it with white for a fresh, crisp look.

Keep foundation pieces neutral and use pink accessories that can be easily changed out.

Use simple patterns, especially geometric ones like checks and stripes.
