Are You Decorating Like A Teenager?

You may have heard me say this before, but Pottery Barn Teen is a great resource for unexpected home accessories that don’t necessarily belong in your teenager’s bedroom. When I got their most recent catalog last week, I swooned over all the fun finds! My favorite were these gorgeous drapery panels - perfect for a cottagey, beachy, or shabby chic kind of look:

Furry Beanbag and Nesting Tables

I’m a girl who likes fur. I am so digging this Furlicious Beanbag. I didn’t make that up – that’s what it’s actually called. It’s from PB Teen, one of my current fav inspiration catalogs. I don’t care if it’s for teens, how cool would this look in the living room? You know, kinda near the fireplace or in front of the television. This is no kiddie-sized beanbag. See, these people are grown-ups. And look how much fun they are having.

I really love the boots, too. But they are only for wearing indoors, like slippers. Dang.

Update with Lampshades

You want to hear something really encouraging? You can update nearly any old lamp with a rocking new lampshade. The hard part is finding the “right” lampshade. So, I’m gonna make it easy for you – I’m finding it for you!

Latticework is really “in” right now – this updated latticework lampshade is so on-trend and will continue to be for the next several years. By Jamie Young Lighting. Love it, but it has a high-end price ($175). So I wouldn’t buy it for this price, but it helps me to have an inspiration piece to look for at a better price.

Ottoman Bed

This is so ingenious! At first glance, it’s a slipcovered ottoman. Which is a versatile piece to begin with. It can be used to rest your feet, topped with a tray to convert it into a makeshift coffee table, or put into use as extra seating. The slipcover comes in white and in hot pink.

But if you remove the slipcover, it folds out into an extra sleep space for friends. No more making pallets on the hard floor! It has a metal frame and velcro straps to keep the mattress in place.
