Pillow Talk

I stage houses to sell.  Staging beds with pillows is part of that.  It’s what I do.  I will not be mocked.

I think pillow-staging is an art.  It’s about choosing just the right combination of colors, sizes, and textures.

The bed is the focal point of the bedroom, right?   And proper pillow placement is the finishing touch to a lovely bed.

So, did you know I have a smart-alec husband?  He thinks he’s funny.  And he mocks me about my pillow creations.  Here is a photo of our bed after I make it up in the morning.   He’s a lucky man, isn’t he? DSC 8867 Pillow Talk

I left early the other morning to stage a house, and he was sweet enough to make the bed.  When I got home, I walked into the bedroom.  And this is what I found:

    Incredibly funny!

  2. Lezlie says:

I think Phil’s work is quite creative! It shows innovation and a willingness to take risks.

  3. Michelle says:

Love it! very architectural. He gets major points just for making the bed.

  4. Amy says:

Ohhhhh thank you for the good laugh with breakfast this morning! And hey – I recognize some of that bedding!

  5. Joy says:

I love your blog and read it every day. I’ve learned a lot from reading them and apprecaited your analysis and taster. I’m just thinking that if you take better pictures for your work and whatever you try to introduce, that will be much better for your description. Your picture is always grainy and lack of color and depth. I would really suggest you get a better camera and shoot better pictures. Pardon me for being so frank.

  6. Thank you for your candor, Joy. I am obviously not a photographer, but do have a pretty high-end camera. I probably need to take a few photography lessons, but I’m too busy decorating to take the time to do it! Hopefully, someday!

  7. Frances says:

I love Phil! Sometimes Coop makes the bed at our house and he can be very creative with the pillows also. Love you and the time you take to share with all of us.

  8. Joy says:

I see. In that case, maybe just a quick touch up with the auto-fix function that come with most of the picture viewer function like the built in one with microsoft picture manager? I just wish your picture can shine like your post.

  9. Lorie says:

I’m with Michelle – at least the bed was made! Marc changed the sheets on J’s bunk beds this morning and, well, A for effort, but the top bunk had to be re-made!

  10. Katie says:

Too funny! At least he seems to have put the covers back on straight! As far as the photos, I actually like the way they turn out; it gives drama to the setting and matches the feel to the blog.

  11. Pam Barnett says:

I must defend that sweet husband of yours. I’m sure he got the reaction he intended – but he was so darn cute in the process!!!!!

  12. Pam, I tell him what I sometimes tell the kids when they act up: “You’re lucky you’re so cute!”

  13. Daniel says:

Phil needs to stick with sound and video.

  14. Terry (Mitzi Leigh's Friend) says:

Too funny! Thanks for the laugh. Uh, did hubby change the bedside table lamps too? Loved your blog post though. Keep ‘em coming. :-)

  15. Michelle L. says:

So glad you shared this, Kristie. Watch out or Phil will be stealing your clients! Tom is happy to make the beds, but will not, in his words, attempt the “pillow sculpture.” By the way, your photos are not grainy at all on my computer.

  16. Cindi says:

OK, that cracks me up! I can just imagine him laughing as he placed them like that!

  17. Sherry Daniele says:

Oh, my gosh! I’ve got tears in my eyes from laughing so hard! (thanks for sharing :>) I opened this post after reading the one about the Man’s karate chop on the shams, and this one’s even funnier! I suspect he may indeed be mocking you, Kristi! LOL!!!
