Change Your Pillows, Change Your Life

Well, maybe I’m exaggerating a wee bit.  But it can sure change your mood!  If you have a fairly neutral or solid-colored sofa, the entire look can change with the purchase of a new grouping of pillows.

You’ll need to start with a plan.  Scan your room for an accent color you want to bring out, or decide on a new shade to bring in to your space.  Search for a combo of pillows that each have that new color, while working with your existing sofa.

Or, push outside your comfort zone and grab a hodge-podge of patterns and colors.  Bring them home and try them out.  You can always return them if they don’t work!

This house makes me happy, and these pillows are fabulous.   Wary Meyer’s house rocks.

This post was perfect for me. We are moving and the walls are a warm beige. I thought with my white furniture I would veer away from the shabby chic look for a little while and get a whole new look by bringing in some fun color with pillows. I haven’t decided on any colors yet. I might get wild and crazy and even paint some of my furniture black! (yes, I said black! 🙂 )

Question: I am a typical poor college student who wants to have an amazing apt. Do you know where I can pillows like the ones in the first and second picture for DIRTY CHEAP?

if you can’t find what you’re looking for at tj maxx, homegoods, marshalls, or target, then find fabric remnants at fabric houses and make your own. you can find some fantastic fabrics for so much cheaper than if you were buying them by the yard – there’s usually an area of extra yards of fabric that weren’t used in projects that are marked really low and are perfect for making 2-3 pillows out of. the downside is: you’ll have to sew them. Or maybe you have a mom or grandmother who might do it for you!
