Trend alert! Oversized lighting is H-O-T. You’ll see it in all the design/decor magazines. There is nothing I love more than a good hanging light fixture – it’s an amazing focal point for any room! So if you make it bigger, you make it better.
If you are putting in overhead lighting, err towards too big rather than too small.

Here’s the deal – you walk into a lighting showroom (even it’s Lowe’s) and the lighting looks very large as it hangs from the 30′ ceiling. But guess what? When you get them home and hang them from your 8-9′ ceilings, they are going to look TINY.
Alway, always err towards too big rather than too small.

Make a statement with your lighting. This includes lamps.
Oversized lighting is H-O-T. Trust me. I’m The Decorologist.
Hey Kristie… I love the kitchen with the 3 black lights, and of course the fabulous chandelier!!! XoXo
You ARE the Decorologist!!!!
I agree. Looking for a really big cool chandelier for my living room as the final touch!
What!? A post titled “When Bigger is Better” and NO mention of ‘Mr. Man’?
admit that you only read my post because of the title . . .
It seems like a great idea as a beautiful focal point in a room, especially in an otherwise fairly ordinary space.
I love the lamps in the last pic!
I was just saying this to a client choosing a chandelier for her dining room. It’s a smaller room so she was going to go with a 3 light mini chandelier, but I thought that would look like a hall fixture. So glad she went with the bigger 5 light. Nice article!
