So I got this harebrained idea. I obviously have a Christmas tree (or two or three) that I put up during the Christmas holidays. I also have an Easter tree that I put out the month before Easter. I even have a black feather tree that I put out at Halloween. So why not a Valentine’s tree?
Mr. Man was on a business trip several weeks ago. I got an email from him asking if I bought a pine tree from Amazon.com. And if so, why? (Apparently, he got a notification and couldn’t figure it out.)
My 4-ft flocked tree was delivered last week. And I was thoroughly mocked by my children. I heard “m-om, it just looks like a Christmas tree” and “it doesn’t make sense to have a Valentine’s Tree!”
Until I decorated it with vintage Valentines, pink sparkly hearts, birds and butterflies, and even a few cupids.
I added some pink IKEA glass votives and a few pink books at the base of the tree.
And guess what? They LOVE it. And my kids’ friends think I’m the coolest mom ever. Oh, ye of little faith . . .
So I say, why not have a Valentine’s Tree? Happy Valentine’s Day, Dear Hearts!
It IS really pretty, and, it’s definitely still winter out there, so why not? It’s very YOU!
so gorgeous! i love your style… so creative. i only have energy for pulling out decorations once a year. so kudos to you!!!
Very cute! I have a friend who adopted children from Africa. When their first Christmas in the US came around they were amazed and in love with the Christmas Tree. When they went to take it down, the kids were so crushed that my friend decided to leave it up. It has been in their foyer for 8 years now and it gets decorated for every holiday–even Valentine’s Day!
I especially like your pint sized version!
wow, kris – all year round??? i guess they could just do birds and butterflies in the summer 🙂
I love the idea of having a Christmas tree up year round. Come to think about it, maybe I should just move to the forest or keep mine up all year round 😉 Thanks for the great decorating ideas.
I love it! The cupids are the crowning touch. Kudos!
I love those cupids. 🙂
thanks, vanessa – i found them at an estate sale for a couple of bucks. they have little clips on them so they can “fly” on a christmas tree, presumably.
to be honest, I like your decoration items on the tree, but not the tree itself…. I’m imagine one that can give you romantic feelings…and I cannot figure out even the shape of this tree….
i guess you could decorate a heart-shaped topiary, that would certainly be in keeping with the Valentine’s theme.
This reminds me of the tree in the foyer of Monell’s – they always have it decorated according to the seasons. Every time I see it I think, “That looks like Kristie!” Ha!!
Oh Kristie…So Pretty!!! You keep giving me too many projects 😉
XoXo
I love Americans, you decorate for everything – we just don’t do it up like my friends in the US!
Love this idea, totally fabulous!

Your Valentine tree made me smile! What a fun idea!
Great idea. It looks great. It might be fun to cover the burlap “root ball” at the bottom of the tree with some froo-froo fabric too.
Warmly, Michelle
good idea, michelle – thanks!
You prevailed! Bravo!!! Bella
Love this post, as my kids and I have a tree we decorate for just about every holiday from Valentines, to St.Pat’s day (which is one one of my son’s birthdays), easter, 4th of July, Autumn, Halloween and Christmas! It is a tradition we will always share and remember!
that’s awesome, sharon! your kids will always think fondly back on that tradition 🙂
Love this idea!
I have wanted to do this for years so this year I am going to do it. I am going to hit all the Holidays.
Fabulous idea! I might try a little one for Easter. 🙂
