Butterfly Wallpaper, Oh My!

Ok, wallpaper is a big commitment.  But this winter weather is getting me down!  I *heart* this wallpaper from York – it would be so cute in my kitchen!  I just love the avocado with the blue and yellow, don’t you?Image from The Decorologist

Image from The DecorologistThis is part of the kitchen where there is wallspace to wallpaper.  The butter yellow wall extends to right several feet past what this photo shows, and there’s more yellow wallspace behind me from where I took this photo.

I

I really don’t have much wallspace in there, what with the cabinetry and beadboard – so it wouldn’t be overpowering.  And it wouldn’t be expensive, as it would only take a couple of rolls.Image from The Decorologist

What do you think?   Would this be fabulous, or am I just overtaken by my desperation for spring in this cold weather?

Very vintage, very you. Go for it! (With lots of sizing!) Or you could just cut out thin boards to fit the backs of your shelves and cover them with wallpaper for a lot of look with no commitment.

Putting it in the back of the shelves is a good idea, with less committment. Mr. Man is saying he might actually make the glass-front cabinet doors I’ve been wanting for years, so maybe just inside that area . . .

Kristie – your kitchen is adorable!! So, so cute.
I do love the wallpaper. If it’s something that will make you happy to look at everyday, then by all means…go for it! Not sure how much wall space you have in the rest of the kitchen. It is a very small area around the window, however, so you might benefit from a larger pattern repeat if used behind the shelves…

Kelly, the wall space goes out about four feet to the right of that window – then there’s the backdoor, so it goes over it and stops at the cabinetry. Then there is wallspace opposite the breakfast nook. It just dawned on me that the colors in the wallpaper remind me of the colors in the fabulous jewelry display you created!

It’s beautiful…go for it. The best part is it will not only brighten up winter but be ideal for spring and summer too. As you said you have only a little painted wall in there and so much painted woodwork that it will not overwhelm the decor in there.

Kristie, I love this wallpaper, too!! … such a cheerful pattern and colors.
I’m interested for either my powder room or guest bath.

Could ya / Would ya please share the name and/or # of the pattern or book name/# ??

    Much appreciation,

My dad claimed that wallpaper was the major cause of divorce in America. On his first wallpaper adventure in a teeny, tiny bathroom, he pasted those pastel butterflies upside down. They stayed there until we sold the house a few years later; and my parents celebrated over 50 anniversaries. Love conquers all.
