Trading Spaces – The “New” Living Room

I’ve had several requests from you guys to see the “after” of the living room that now resides in my old dining room.  Here it is:

“New” Living Room

This was the room when it was set up as the dining room – as it had been for the last 10 years.

Former Dining Room

Of course, now the dining room is in the former living room like I showed you in this post.  The sunroom is just beyond this room, where we spend a lot of time hanging out.

So, when you come in the front entry of the house and pass through the first arch, the new dining room is directly in front of you, and the new living room is to the right of the above shot, through this archway:

So far, we have been using this room mainly for reading and talking after school is out in the afternoon.  My oldest daughter likes to practice guitar on the couch here, as well.  It’ll probably stay this way until it gets a bit cooler, and I feel the need to huddle around the fireplace again.  Of course, there’s all those books to remove from the fireplace . . .

Your living room is simply charming, Kristie. What a magnificent art collection! I love the way you’ve staged the room for the photo, right down to the shoes on the rug – as though they were just removed in order for you to curl up in a chair and unwind after a long day!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!

I love it, Kristie! Bold move – and well done! (And why do the books have to move? I kind of like them!)

You’ve got your work cut out for you..unless of course you like a cosy fire with a winter meal and bring some other kind of heat into the living room..I like the switch and think it works really well.

I know, I know. I’m thinking I’ll appreciate this arrangement more since I know it’ll have to change in a couple months!

Love, love! It looks so inviting. Are you going to try to leave dining room by the fire? Try it, that sounds so cozy to eat by the fire. Not very practical though I guess. Just try in once, how romantic!

oh, i’m gonna try it, kelly! maybe we’ll sit on the other side of the table, furthest from the fire . . .
