Fall into the Season

Autumn Room Want to warm things up for Fall?  There are lots of subtle things you can do to cozy up your home.   Add texture with layers.  Blankets, shawls, fur throws warm up sofas and chairs.  A little fall foliage is nice, as well.

There are lots of fur throws out there – check TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, Stein Mart, and Target. Faux Fur Blanket on Sofa

Decor Home Living Room To up the cozy factor, add an area rug to your seating area.  This is definitely a good idea if you have wood floors or light-colored carpeting.

I found this pic in an old issue of Domino.  Love the zebra rug and the white fur on the back of the modern chairs.

Guatamalan Pillows Buy a few pillows in darker, more vivid colors  than you use during the summer months– maybe in velvet or corduroy. Velvet Pillows from West Elm This one is from www.guattravellers.com.

Go darker – add in accent colors of gold, olive, plum, burnt orange, and red.

Add a folded dark blanket or quilt at the end of your bed.   Check out this Chrys Hutchings Eco-Fur Blanket. Fur Blanket on Bed

Elegant Bedroom in warm colors Here’s a yummy autumnal bedroom I restyled recently.  The black blanket and red accents warm up the yellow walls and blue/gray bedding.

Pull out more “earthy” accessories – think browns, woodtones, pinecones and acorns, driftwood, etc.  Look at Jennifer Ingram’s warm entry table vignette.

What do you do to warm up your Fall decor?

Mmmm, great ideas! I think I’ll look for a fur throw this year!

I put some deep red pillows on the couch, add a few fall/winter scent candles on the tables, pull out extra throws in rich and warm colors, and place a stack of books on an end table for curling up with while wearing a throw and sipping hot tea.

    Hi,
I’m Italian and I speak little English.
I love the decor years ’60 s-’70s, and then I love the zebra rug in the photo.
The furs that are on the chairs and on the bed are of lamb and?…
I love this and I would love to put it in my house, but I think the animals were killed and this is holding me back.
    You tell me something?
    You think about it?
Tell me something I can reassure and I can bring the happy idea of decorating the house with these items that make me crazy!
    Thanks

You can rest assured that all of the throws and rugs in the article are faux, meaning they are not (nor were they ever) real animals. No animals killed, but you still get the fur look! Thanks for stopping by The Decorologist 🙂

        .. Sorry Kristie Barnett
In that sense “for these fur animals were not killed?
        What material are they made?
And where I can I buy?

I’m not sure where you are, but these kind of faux furs are available at many American retailers including HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Bed Bath & Beyond, Macy’s, Dillard’s, etc. Abroad, IKEA carries the smaller sheep furs.

And they are made out of various synthetic (man-made) fibers and possibly cotton and wool.

    Thanks …Kristie …
The sheepskin is true, but the lamb is not killed for fur principally
    , right?
I’m sorry, but I’m constrained by conscience …
    Thanks again

the lambs are shorn (shaved) for their wool, then it simply regrows. they are not killed for their wool! 🙂 faux sheepskins are made from the the wool and the skin is synthetic, not real sheepskin.
