As a Nashville based Color Consultant, it’s my job to pay close attention to the color trends coming down the pike. Those trends affect what we will see in the stores in the coming year and what options you will have in fashion and home decor. Scant hours ago, Pantone announced that Tangerine Tango is the 2012 Color of the Year!
Following on the heels of a vibrant and uplifting color like Honeysuckle Pink, Tango Tangerine is a vibrant, exciting choice for the new “it” color in fashion and design. It’s a reddish-orange, like a beautiful sunset.
This rich color is a natural to pair with Benjamin Moore’s 2012 Color of the Year, Wythe Blue!
Keep your eye out for tangerine home accessories like kitchen mixers, pillows, and bedding – it’s coming!

I recently used it as the punchy accent color in this Nashville living room.
Nashville Interior Decorator does Tangerine Tango
Just a couple of months ago, I wrote a post called “Orange Is the New Red.” Pantone obviously agrees! So, what’s your honest opinion about Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2012? Love it or leave it?
Hello, Kristie!
That’s great that we had the same thought at same time! As I answered to you in my blog post, this cincidence shows we know how Color functions. If two have had the same thought at the same time in so distant places, this says the thought is a good one! I love orange and blue and I thing it is no coincidence that Benjamin Moore have chosen White Blue to complement with Tango Tangerine.
Such a great color! So many colors can be paired up with this for a variety of looks. Pantone picked a good one for 2012!
I have always loved the color Orange so I’m excited to see that it will be showing up in the world of design. I’m thinking that I’m going to incorporate it into my living room redesign in some accessories.
Accessories are the best way to go with a rich color like this one – add a little, then add a little more!
Ha, now I know what my post is today, I was just thinking about the colour of the year yesterday thinking it should be out soon! Thanks for the heads up 🙂

My pleasure, Maria – news you can use!
I love it! I really like that it’s weighted with red. Can’t wait to see it everywhere 🙂
I love it! I’m not a fan of red but this is such a fun, vibrant color.
Yes on TT! Does this mean I can look like the tango dancer? Hope so! I don’t think I could do this color on a wall, but it sure plays out well for accent pieces and pillows!
Barbara,Not only you can look like the Tango dancer!,..you can “be” a Tango dancer, just come to Buenos Aires, to enjoy the most sofisticaded,misterious,sugestive,lovely,….Tango.
Ooh lala – watch out Barbara! 😉
I’m excited about Tangerine Tango and how we’ll see it play out in 2012. It’s got a lot of energy and can be paired with a lot of fabulous colors.
I have always loved the misunderstood color orange. Tangerine Tango is so bold and full of life. Love it!!
