Do you want to add a little architectural interest below the chair rail in your dining room? Not all of us have a miter saw sitting around (or the skill to operate such a gadget), so here's an awesome CHEAT for box trim.
Ok, here's the secret: pick up a stack of simple picture frames from Michael's or wheretheheck ever. Nail or adhere them below the chair rail, then paint the whole thing out in semi-gloss trim paint. Is this an awesome cheat, or what? I love Pinterest . . .
Great idea Kristie! I love Pinterest too!! Great ideas.
Hi there,
I had seen this trick on Pinterest as well. How clever we humans are! Great alternative!
Cheers!,

That is a fabulous idea. Thank you for sharing that.
Is there a CHEAT for doing the chair rail? Just asking.
Hi Kristie,
I have this tip pinned, however, I wonder if you could shed any light on determining what size should be used and what do you do in smaller areas? I have existing chair rail in my hall and thought that might be a good way to bounce light in a somewhat dark area. Thanks for your great ideas and advice!

Hopefully you can find the right size though, when you're doing more than one wall, it's difficult to get them looking even, as each perpendicular wall is usually a different length. Would be great to try in an even boxed room!
Jil,
Yeah, that’s the tricky part. But even if you had to cut a few of them down to work, that’d be less cutting and mitering than doing it all from scratch.
Really you have great ideas and useful blog
Great cheat and the box stores have them all assembled for only about $14 or so.
LOL!!! FABULOUS!!!! 🙂
