The Southern Living Showcase Home was open to tour here in Nashville through this last weekend, and it did not disappoint. I love the exterior – the REAL shutters with actual shutterdogs, the gas lamp above the entry, the gray gutters.

Let me get the bragging out of the way so that you can tour the rest of the home. As a Nashville paint color specialist, I had the honor of being called in to assist AB Home Interior’s Amanda Burdge in choosing paint colors for the guest room.

Amanda’s vision for the guest room was a glamorous hotel-chic kind of space that Marilyn Monroe would want to spend the night in. She knew she wanted neutral walls, but wanted to make a statement on the ceiling. We finally decided on the winning combination of Sherwin Williams’ Accessible Beige for the walls, Oyster White for the trim, and Gracious Rose for the ceiling.

Ok, done with the bragging. On to some other highlights of this beautiful home: The living room is definitely the “busiest” room of the showhouse. If you love to display lots of colorful art, a warm white like they used here is often the best option for the wall color.

My favorite thing about the dining room is this trio of antique European mirrors – the patina is perfection.
Antique Mirrors
The kitchen is white and gorgeous. The white painted cabinetry is both classic and completely on-trend.
White Kitchen Cabinets
This is the kitchen that will never look out-of-date. Carrerra marble – yum, yum, yum.
Carrera Marble Countertops
The breakfast room is so European farmhouse. The bench provides casual seating and great storage. The zinc-topped table is low maintenance for family meals, while this wooden bead chandelier adds just enough glamour.

Here’s the master bedroom. Love the pendant lighting hanging on either side of the bed.
Master Bedroom
You’ll notice the bathroom is a timeless and classic as the kitchen. Why? White cabinetry and carrera marble, silly! The gray-blue walls are heavenly.
Master Bathroom
Now this is fun – a boy’s bedroom gone SteamPunk! Gears and maps and contraptions – perfect for a young boy. The light fixture is beyond cool.
Steampunk Bedroom
There are always beautiful murals in kid’s rooms at these showhouses. I love this massive globe that is literally tucked into a corner of the boy’s room.

I think showhouses are a great way to gather inspiration and get a glimpse into the latest and greatest trends in design and decorating. What did you think of the Southern Living Showcase Home tour? Love the marble counter tops! And I especially love your profile picture! Very pretty… XoXo
Thank you, Katie – you’re very sweet!
oh, I love ‘your’ room the best, and the kitchen. I don’t like that cluster display at all, too much for me I guess. I do get their intention for displaying and present the whole group as one piece, but I can’t sit and relax on the chair next to it. They are definitely conversational pieces. Yes, your new profile pic is beautiful, with purple top in front of a green background, so crisp and refresh.
Thank you, Joy! I really loved that kitchen – really timeless and beautiful.
I’d love to know the color of the exterior. Beautiful home!
Wow! And congratulations for your part in the colours! I think my favorite element was also the trio of mirrors – they’re amazing. I love the last vignette too1
Just a dream of a bed room. I would love to wake up every morning and see that fabulous color on my ceiling. Great job! The kitchen is to die for as well!
Just got this comment via email from a local reader, so I thought I’d share it here:
“I visited the house with the hubs over the weekend. I made a special point to look at “your” ceiling. Looking specifically at your ceiling made me look at the ceilings in all of the rooms. It was interesting to note that quite a few of the rooms had statement ceilings. Did you notice the guest bathroom with the tiny shiny dots that had to have been put on by hand? We liked the hidden refrigerator and the zinc table in the kitchen. I liked the way the touch of aqua “bounced” from the paintings in the livingroom to the couch pillows to the coffee table. I loved the doors between the livingroom and the screened in room. There were many other things that I liked but these were the ones that stood out in my mind. I am glad that you had a part in the house. becky”
Becky,
You are right about the ceilings! That fifth wall will no longer be ignored 🙂
Beautiful Kristie! Thanks for sharing…I love when bloggers feature the local showhomes we would have normally never seen!!!
Using Pink on the ceiling is BRILLIANT! I used a paleish gold on the ceiling in our last master (with pale gray/ocean pearl) , it looked ok.. but never looked ‘intentional’ or had any WOW factor. That room is positiveily gorgeous!!! Love the master bath, kitchen and especially the breakfast nook too.
Congratulations on your color assist!! I’m so excited for you. It’s just beautiful. i could totally see Marilyn staying there. 🙂
